The Marketing and Membership Manager creates marketing, outreach, and promotional strands that advance the organizational goals of the Museum. The position implements cohesive and effective strategies designed to drive attendance, revenue and brand evolution for the Museum of Arts and Design (MOAD) and the Special Collection Galleries at Freedom Tower. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees

  • Develops, plans, and executes innovative, marketing and outreach plans for MOAD and the MDC Special Collection Galleries
  • Analyzes and researches external markets to provide recommendations for industry pricing, based on current trend and pay factors
  • Coordinates strategic planning, brand identity, and marketing efforts for MOAD and the MDC Special Collection Galleries
  • Collaborates with the department and coordinates with consultants in the establishment of attendance and sales metrics
  • Manages project timelines, ensures production of content adheres to deadlines, and delivers press placement in high-profile and highly visible outlets
  • Maintains and secures corporate and media partnerships, including the negotiation, drafting and execution of proposals and contracts
  • Builds and fosters community engagements with niche constituencies in alignment with MOAD and the MDC Special Collection Galleries housed at Freedom Tower
  • Organizes, expands, and manages contact lists including Eventbrite and MailChimp
  • Prepares communication materials for local and national media campaigns and other appropriate audiences in collaboration with Executive Director
  • Establishes and maintains contacts with decision-makers of major media outlets; responds to media requests
  • Oversees and ensures MOAD and the MDC Special Collection Galleries information released in print, social, web-based and broadcast media is consistent, accurate, and effective
  • Oversees design, functionality and content of brands digital assets; ensures MOAD website and social media platforms reflect current programs and special events
  • Recruits, trains, and oversees temporary and contractual consultants, specialty vendors, interns and volunteers
  • Oversees museum membership program; related donations and corporate sponsorship fundraising components including in-kind and cash donations
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with individual and group museum members
  • Creates and monitors membership lists and manages membership budget
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Master’s degree in related field and two (2) years of experience in marketing or cultural arts; or Bachelor’s degree in related field and six (6) years of experience in marketing or cultural arts
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of techniques to build and retain audiences and attract members
  • Knowledge of contemporary museums of art and design
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, visual, and written) and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to be an articulate and passionate advocate for MOAD exhibitions and events
  • Possesses a passion for art and its ability to address the most pressing social issues of our time
  • Knowledge of the contemporary art world and interest in the field of social practice
  • Stays abreast of cultural trends and developments in digital marketing
  • Ability to write business correspondence, clear email communications, draft contracts and write reports
  • Possess excellent managerial skills with the ability to make important sound decisions and effectively problem solve on a regular basis
  • Ability to demonstrate confidence, articulation and professionalism and adapt to a demanding environment
  • Demonstrated experience and strong working knowledge of advertising and marketing practices
  • Possess superior organizational skills and the ability to guard confidential information
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software, social media platforms, and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
