The Department of Economics & Finance at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Part-time Lecturers to teach in the undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university or local community as needed.

The Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship (VCOBE) commenced
operations in Fall 2015. VCOBE is the result of the combination of two successful legacy
business schools, and is committed to perpetuating advancement of the Rio Grande Valley by pursuing a mission, objectives, and strategies consistent with the guiding principles of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) adopted by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, and that reflect the faculty’s and staff’s commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of teaching, research, and service

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualification to be considered as a part-time lecturer is a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field of study from an accredited institution.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

The ability to teach in the Economics and/or Finance area(s) is required.

Preferred Qualification

Doctoral degrees in Economics, Finance, or related fields are desirable. Teaching experience in those areas is also desirable, as is the ability to use technology to support teaching and learning.

    A New University with a Long History

    The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

     

    Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

     

    UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

    The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

    Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
