Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics invites applicants for the position of Outreach Specialist. This part-time (50% time) position will be the primary contact point for Michigan Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (MI-LSAMP) student engagement programming at Michigan State University and assist in the recruitment of students to the MI-LSAMP hybrid bridge summer program.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Provide supplemental advising to those students selected as MI-LSAMP Scholars
  • Serve on the MI-LSAMP Program Managers sub-committee
  • Manage MI-LSAMP hybrid bridge program component
  • Oversee student engagement programming with a focus on student academic success for the academic year
  • Maintain databases and all MI-LSAMP participant records
  • Advising non-Engineering MI-LSAMP students on academic, career, and student success issues
  • Recruit, hire, and train MI-LSAMP participants and hybrid bridge program staff

  • Knowledge of multicultural dynamics within a university or professional setting
