Basic Function:

The primary responsibility of a faculty member at Northern Virginia Community College is to provide quality instruction for the students. The major emphasis is on excellent teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities. Faculty help students develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become better workers and better citizens.Part-time instructors needed in the Springfield, Virginia area to teach courses at the Medical Education Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Disciplines needed include but not limited to: Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Services, Health Information Management, Medical Lab Technology, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy. NOVA faculty may be assigned to any campus based upon enrollment and staffing needs. This recruitment is being filled, contingent upon availability of funds

Duties and Responsibilities:

The College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports in a timely manner; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; conduct requisite student conferences; hold required office hours; attend to assigned divisional and College duties; contribute to the development of the program of instruction; adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations; answer emails in a timely manner; maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization; and advise students

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in the teaching field or an Associate’s degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competencies. A minimum of 2 years of full-time or full-time equivalent occupational experience related to the teaching field is required. Professional licensure and/or occupational certification is required (if required to practice in the applicable occupation).

Preferred Qualifications:

College level teaching experience and relevant professional experience. Bachelor’s or Master’s in a related teaching field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Adept knowledge of instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse student population. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required
