The WellStar School of Nursing seeks applicants for the position of Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs and Associate Professor or Professor of Nursing. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track position that begins July 1, 2020. The Associate Director reports to the Director of the WellStar School of Nursing which offers traditional and accelerated BSN programs.
Responsibilities include day-to-day management of the generic and accelerated BSN programs. The Associate Director oversees accreditation processes, generates reports, maintains program compliance with the Georgia Board of Nursing and accrediting agencies, monitors academic standards and provides academic leadership and oversight for the undergraduate nursing programs. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the undergraduate program. Scholarship is expected by engagement in an ongoing program of research. Successful candidates will possess 1) eligibility for a Georgia nursing license, 2) previous teaching and administrative experience in undergraduate nursing education, 3) a commitment to maintaining an ongoing program of research, 4) demonstrated high-level of interpersonal skills for communication, consultation and collaboration, 5) a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and 6) demonstrated forward-minded leadership and ability to inspire and mentor faculty.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Research-focused doctoral degree in nursing or a related field, or the foreign equivalent, is required, plus a master’s degree in nursing. Successful candidates must qualify for rank at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of clinical practice, 5 years of teaching in an academic setting, administrative experience, a strong record of scholarship, evidence of external funding, as well as experience with accreditation reports, and working with culturally and ethnically diverse groups. The ideal candidate will show evidence of leadership skills and qualities needed to successfully lead the undergraduate faculty through a major enrollment increase.

The WellStar School of Nursing (WSON) offers BSN and MSN degrees and is one of the largest programs in Georgia. The School graduates more new Baccalaureate nurses than other programs in Georgia. The school currently employs 46 full-time faculty and numerous part-time faculty. A five-year plan to increase undergraduate enrollment will begin Fall 2020, which calls for additional faculty. The WSON is housed within the WellStar College of Health and Human Services, which includes departments of Social Work and Human Services, Health Promotion and Physical Education, and Exercise Science and Sports Management.

    In 2009, the Kennesaw State Owls completed a reclassification from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I, competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference. During the transition from 2005-2009, KSU teams have won six Atlantic Sun Conference tournaments in five sports, including men’s indoor and outdoor track, women’s soccer, softball and cross-country.
