Description of Position
The Division offers coursework in early childhood, elementary, middle, and secondary education, in curriculum, TESOL, multicultural education, special education, culturally responsive teaching, and reading, and in English/Language Arts, natural science, social studies, art, and mathematics. THE INTENT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS TO IDENTIFY A POOL OF ADJUNCT FACULTY WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO DELIVER UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE LEVEL COURSES IN THE DIVISION OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND CURRICULUM STUDIES. The School of Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is continuously seeking qualified candidates for adjunct faculty teaching positions.

Organizational Structure:
The School of Education is comprised of three (3) academic divisions: Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies; Counseling and Educational Psychology; and Educational Leadership, Policy and Foundations. Adjunct faculty teaching in the School of Education are responsible for teaching regular courses as assigned by the Division Chairperson. This posting is specific for individuals qualified and interested in teaching for the division of Teacher Education & Curriculum Studies, at either the undergraduate or graduate level

Appointment and Salary
These are term, non-tenure-accruing positions. Appointment periods are for the semester with consideration for reappointment. A flat adjunct salary is determined based on level of educational degree held.

A complete application includes a letter of application detailing desire and qualifications to teach in one or more of the areas listed above, curriculum vita, a minimum of two current letters of recommendation (must be on letterhead and signed), transcript reflecting the highest degree earned and previous coursework leading up to the highest degree earned submitted to: UMKC Human Resources http://www.umkc.edu/hr/.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Degree appropriate significant experience/training relevant to the level of class and content area being taught
  2. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to equity, social justice and culturally-responsive teaching
  3. Familiarity with various online delivery platforms
  4. Experience teaching in P12 schools and/or institutes of higher education (as applicable to the area of interest for adjunct teaching).
An official copy of transcripts(s), showing degree(s) with courses completed, and conferring institution will be required before an official offer is made to the candidate. The University requires that we maintain an official copy of your higher education transcripts. An official copy of the transcript showing the highest degree and any other transcript relevant to the course taught must be sent to the Office of the Dean, Attention: Julie K.
