Departmental Overview

Founded in 1930 through a gift from John D. Rockefeller, Jr., International House is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, self-supporting residential and community-oriented center located in the southeast foothills of the Berkeley Campus. The historic facility is adjacent to the California Memorial Stadium along Piedmont Avenue. The building has six floors of residential rooms, including a conference center featuring the Chevron Auditorium with a capacity of 350, several other smaller meeting rooms, plus a library, and a dining commons with a capacity of 325.  Since its founding, it has housed more than 95,000 residents including two Governors of California and eight Nobel Prize laureates. Its mission is to foster intercultural respect and understanding among people throughout the world across cultural, economic, and ethnic lines. 

Each year I-House provides some 1,100 students and scholars from 75+ nationalities (including the USA) with an opportunity to live and learn together over the course of a typical 12-month cycle. With a renewed emphasis on the acquisition of intercultural leadership skills, I-House strives to augment and expand the impact of the residential life experience by encouraging life time personal and professional connections that transform lives and offer skills that enrich and enhance career opportunities. I-House's rich array of programs serves the residents, the campus and local community.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Business and Finance, the Information Systems Analyst 3 provides a variety of IT services. Assignments may include database administration, application programming, IT project management, systems administration, systems and process analysis, security, solution development and maintenance, business technical support or a combination of these and / or other IT functions.

The Information System Analyst will use professional concepts; applies department policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex problems. Analyzes complex issues where evaluation of data requires a review of a variety of factors. Is able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Has both internal and external contacts. Normally receives general instructions, with detailed instructions provided on complex new project assignments and initiatives.

Applies IT concepts to perform complex analyses and functions from multiple IT areas of specialization. Implement system enhancements (software and hardware) that improve the performance and reliability of systems. Support web based accounting (Financial Edge) and room management software (StarRez). Responsible for setup and maintenance of virtualized servers and network monitoring systems.

Maintains security configurations. Executes security control to prevent hackers from infiltrating campus information including installation and configuration of firewall devices, host based firewalls and data encryption. Install and manage network access control system for wireless and wired residential networks.

Analyzes business problems to be solved with automated systems. Responsible for implementation and management of campus card payment system supporting dining plan and printer payments. Responsible for online payment systems and PCI compliance.

Lead a team of IT professionals. Supervises Business Technical Analyst and student employee.

Analyzes, installs, modifies and supports operating systems, database or utilities software. Configure and manage VMware servers and virtual machines.

Analyzes and implements LAN and/or WAN system projects. Maintain and operate I-House internal data communications systems including LANS and WANS connect to UCB and CENIC networks. Includes wireless controllers, routers, switches, firewall, DNS and DHCP services. Responsible for internal voice systems, wiring and management in conjunction with AT&T.

Train users in conversion and implementation of system. Provide end user support for all International House computer systems and applications. Develops conversion and system implementation plans or participate in developing portions of plans. Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Broad knowledge of various areas of information systems technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with a diverse employee base.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.
  • Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field, plus five (5) years of professional work experience in Information Technology.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified Professional. 
  • Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Annual $75,400.00 - 110,800.00 (DOE)
