Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Provides basic security and protection of persons on campus and on university property
  • Observe and report unsafe or suspicious conditions on campus
  • Assist higher level officers on response to incidents regarding campus safety and security
  • Court or judicial appearances as required relating to campus matters
  • Provides directions and assistance to campus constituents
  • Provides security and safeguard to campus facilities
  • Maintains communications contact with TUPD to provide response to service calls and assistance
  • Completes required reports and forms
  • Attends internal and external training and meetings as assigned
  • Monitor alarm and surveillance systems; including response
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Must be able to pass a Firearms Safety Course (dept. may arm officers during emergency situations)


  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma from an accredited institution or GED
  • Must be able to complete Psychological, physical and drug screening processes
  • Must be able to work to work rotating shifts
  • Must have a valid Alabama Drivers License
  • Must possess a valid Alabama Pistol Permit
  • Ability to administer first aid or CPR

Working Conditions

  • Job requires exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations
  • Job requires standing, sitting and some lifting
