The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Elmhurst College in the greater Chicago area invites applications to join the pool of part-time (adjunct) faculty. We welcome candidates who teach in sociology, criminal justice, or social work. When a position is available, qualified applicants may be contacted for an interview and asked to submit further documentation.

Essential Functions

Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Responsibilities for this adjunct faculty position include course preparation, teaching, grading and being available to students who have questions or require extra help.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree or higher in Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
2. A keen interest in engaging students and fostering their learning.

Preferred QualificationsWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.

Work Hours

Part-time adjunct position.
Filled as needed. Ideally available for daytime teaching.
