High school or Vocational school graduate and the successful completion of a formal training program and/or an apprenticeship in the Heating and Refrigeration trade; minimum two years experience at the journeyman level as a heating and refrigeration mechanic.Preferred
Masters level skills with a minimum of five years experience in a university setting. Minimum of five years experience working with large centrifugal chiller units, fire tube boilers and the operating successful energy conservation measures. After hours and weekend “on-call” availability required. Current driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University must be maintained as a condition of employment.Primary Responsibilities
Perform the installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of University heating and cooling systems and equipment. Must be able to correspond in written (work order, manuals, instructions, etc.), and verbal (telephone, two-way radio, conversation with co-workers, etc.) form. Must be capable of safely operating university equipment, i.e. university service vehicle, and various lift equipment devices. Must work safely on ladders, in confined spaces, on roof tops and other areas. Must actively participate in all safety training and the “safety First” program. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. This position is security sensitive.Other Information
Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
