Present Position NumberF0847WRole TitlePostdoctoral Research AssociatePosition TitlePostdoctoral Research Associate of Physics (Dune and Minverva)Position Summary

The experimental particle physics group at William & Mary invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work the DUNE and MINERVA neutrino experiments. DUNE is a next-generation neutrino oscillation experiment, which aims to make definitive measurements of the remaining oscillation parameters. Within DUNE, the William & Mary group is active in the far detector high-voltage system and anode plane assembly (APA) consortia and in the near detector effort. The MINERvA neutrino-scattering experiment has collected a rich high-statistics dataset of few-GeV neutrino and antineutrino interactions on a variety of nuclear targets. Within MINERvA, the W&M group has leadership roles in analysis of the incoming neutrino flux and exclusive, inclusive, and deep inelastic scattering.

The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research with substantial self-direction, independence, and initiative. The applicant will also be expected to take on leading roles in the construction of the DUNE detectors and in analysis and preservation of MINERvA data.

The appointment, which includes a benefits package, will be made for one year with the possibility of renewal up to five years, contingent on funding and annual performance review.

Required Qualifications

A PhD in experimental particle, astro-particle, or nuclear physics by time of appointment. Experience in programming and data analysis or hardware development is expected.
