Adjunct German Instructor - POOL - MJC

Salary Range / Other:The Hourly Range: $58.21 – $93.06
Doctorate Range: $68.60 to 95.51
Personnel new to the District are limited to a maximum 10th step placement based on previous experience: $90.37.
Benefits:With the exception of Workers’ Compensation benefits; this classification is not eligible for District paid benefits.
Scope of Assignment:Lecture courses in a traditional classroom setting teaching German courses.
Minimum Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in German
OR
Bachelor’s degree in German AND Master’s degree in another language or linguistics
OR
The equivalent
Experience teaching adult learners. Current knowledge of issues in language teaching, such as second language acquisition. Experience in computer-assisted instruction. Ability to develop curriculum or services that stress innovation and multicultural emphasis. Enthusiasm for the learning process. Commitment to supportive relationships with students and colleagues. Willingness to experiment with teaching methods to accommodate various student learning styles.

Your completed application materials will be examined by a departmental screening committee, at which point you may be invited for an interview. The interview will include a short teaching demonstration on a topic assigned in advance and discussion with department faculty concerning your teaching philosophies.

On behalf of everyone at the Yosemite Community College District Office, Modesto Junior College and Columbia College, we welcome you to our District. Even with all the fiscal issues that we are facing within the State of California, our staff has been working miracles with continuously reduced budgets. We continue to serve our students well, and provide them with great opportunities and a quality education. As the Chancellor, I am very proud of their efforts and dedication.
One of my greatest challenges is to ensure the educational quality and fiscal stability of our institutions. One way this is accomplished is through long-range planning. There are many exciting things on the horizon for the Colleges of the YCCD - especially with all the construction and completion of our Measure E building projects.
