  • Position Description:

    Under the general direction of the Director for Institutional Research, the survey statistician and instructor supports evidence-based decision making and analysis of program and institutional effectiveness through a range of responsibilities related to campus-wide survey research projects. The position would focus on acquisition and analysis of data from survey and institutional data stores for institutional clients and external stakeholders with particular emphasis on supporting the institutions research and innovation enterprise.  Key responsibilities would include providing support in the construction, administration, analysis of surveys for individuals and groups across campus, maintaining survey tools and insuring that surveys meet associated regulatory requirements, and providing support for key reporting functions to state, federal and private agencies. In addition to these duties the position would deepen the experiential component of the institution’s instructional mission by engaging in instructional activities for one term each year.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Experience:

      At a minimum the position requires a Master’s degree in statistics, educational statistics and measurement, research methodology, or closely related field. It is essential that this employee have demonstrated experience conducting all aspects of survey research: survey development and validation, sampling, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, and fluid knowledge of data acquisition and analysis tools. The employee must have at least three years of relevant quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience, preferably at a higher education institute. The employee must be familiar with survey tools such Qualtrics or Survey Monkey, be highly skilled in the use of a spreadsheet software such as Excel and at least one major statistical software such as R, SPSS, SAS etc.The employee should have demonstrated ability to independently conduct research projects involved with the analysis of academic data and effectively communicate the results both in written and oral form. The employee should have a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment on collaborative projects.It is preferred that the employee have previous working experience in institutional research, with more than two years’ programming experience in using Oracle SQL and using statistical software such as SPSS, R, or SAS to manage and transform data, report statistics, conduct multivariate analysis, and write up results. It is preferred that the employee have demonstrated records of scholarly publications and conference presentations regarding survey development and validation as well.
