Job Details
Claflin University is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Director of Admissions.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Admissions (ADA) is under the leadership of the Director of Admissions and works closely with the Director to recruit students to Claflin University through college fairs, group presentations, personal interviews, campus tours, telephone contacts, and written correspondence. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the following; evaluate and execute admissions decisions on students applying for enrollment to the University, manage a recruitment territory to achieve enrollment objectives and goals; assist in the development of the Office of Admissions Recruitment, Marketing, and Communication Plan; assist with the development of statistical data to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and the area overall operational effectiveness. The ADA will coordinate, implement, and supervise on-campus and/or off-campus recruitment events; secure alumni volunteers and coordinate their efforts to recruit students from their areas in and out-of-state. The Assistant Director of Admissions will serve on various committees as assigned by the President, InterimVice President for Enrollment and Services, and Director of Admissions and perform any other duties within the scope of this position.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree (with marketing element or equivalent) is required, a master’s degree strongly preferred. Candidate must have at least three to five years of recruiting experience in an admissions office at the post-secondary institution of higher learning level or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Recent demonstrated experience using technologies in student recruitment preferred. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with people from various social, educational, and economic backgrounds. Candidate must possess a sound understanding of relational marketing principles, advertising, and promotions; the ability to translate/initiatives into actions; and knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic goal setting and sound decision-making skills, administration and independent problem solving skills, and computer skills. Must exhibit a high degree of professional demeanor and appearance and have excellent presentation skills. Candidate must be willing and able to travel extensively, as well as work evenings and weekends. Transcript evaluations and marketing experience are a plus.
