The University of Miami’s Department of Biology invites outstanding tropical ecologists to apply for the Aresty Endowed Chair in Tropical Ecology. The ideal candidate will contribute to the Department's research strengths investigating the ecology and evolution of tropical systems. In addition to being outstanding, internationally recognized scientists, applicants must be excellent teachers with strong commitments to undergraduate education. Tropical fieldwork must be an integral component of an applicant’s research program.This prestigious chair includes a discretionary annual budget to support research.Applications will be considered at the Associate and Full Professor ranks.

We welcome applications from candidates who would enhance and complement our existing departmental programs in Biodiversity & Global Change, Development & Disease, Neuroscience & Behavior, and Microbiome Biology & Species Interactions.To be eligible for this tenure-track appointment, candidates must hold a Ph.D., and have a strong record of research accomplishments and research funding.The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program, to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level, to regularly teach an off-campus undergraduate field course in the tropics, and be committed to mentoring that supports diversity and inclusion.
