Job Responsibilities

Experience with regulations pertaining to public retirement systems and savings plans is desirable. Strong emphasis is placed on effective communication skills in all types of media, the ability to work within insurance database systems, and the ability to adapt quickly to applicable benefits changes. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent customer service skills, the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, and the ability to appropriately handle confidential information is vital. Colleague experience is helpful. Responsibilities include: administering benefits for over 700 employees, coordinating and directing Open Enrollments, processing enrollment payroll changes and deductions, providing benefits counsel, conducting new-hire benefits orientation, ensuring benefits compliance to include COBRA and ACA, preparing benefits remittances, reporting retirement quarterly, and processing retirement and disability requests. Processes ACA tax information for employees. Adheres to all state and federal mandates regarding employee retirement and benefits.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a bachelor's degree and two (2) years professional experience in employee benefits administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or related field PLUS 3 years of professional experience working with employee insurance benefits and retirement programs is preferred. Additional education and training as a Benefits Administrator within a state agency is also preferred..Experience with regulations pertaining to public retirement systems and savings plans is desirable. Responsibilities include: administrating benefits for over 650 covered employees, directing Open/Annual Enrollment, processing enrollment changes, providing benefits counsel, conducting new-hire orientation, ensuring benefits compliance (including COBRA), preparing benefits remittances, reporting retirement quarterly, and processing retirement and disability requests.
