Job Description Summary

The video and photo manager is a creative storyteller who is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, production, and execution of video and photo assets for internal and external use. As part of the University Brand Marketing & Communications team, this position will help visually communicate Saint Leo University’s story through the voices of faculty, staff, students, and alumni across several communications channels, including online and social media. Additionally, the video and photo manager will work with fellow team members, internal clients, and vendors in the planning and development of work.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Contributes to strategic planning discussions with internal clients and team members by providing innovative ideas and solutions to help meet business objectives through video and photo content.

  • Develops creative video and photo storyboards to share ideas with department team members and internal clients.

  • Conducts several pre-production tasks to plan for video and photo shoots, which include scouting locations, seeking permissions, and coordinating with planned university events and activities.

  • Performs a variety of production tasks for video shoots, including camera operating, lighting and audio setup, and talent management.

  • Performs video post-production tasks, which include reviewing footage, adjusting audio, making color corrections, adding music, graphics, photographs, and animation, and editing.

  • Shoots and edits still photographs, including touch-ups, color correction, and re-sizing

  • Oversees the maintenance of video and photo assets on the university’s digital asset management database.

  • Maintains inventory list of audio and video equipment.

  • Manages and assigns projects to video and photography student assistants.

  • Tracks and evaluates the performance of work, producing annual and project-based performance reports.

  • Other duties as requested.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication, multimedia production, cinematography, film, or a related field (portfolio required)

  • A minimum of five years professional experience in videography and photography.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of photography, videography, and audio recording best practices and tools

Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (especially PhotoShop and Premier Premire Pro), Adobe Audition, Adobe Speedgrade, and Adobe After Effects.

  • Advanced technical knowledge with professional camera, lighting, and audio equipment

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Advanced problem-solving skills

Abilities:

  • Ability to produce innovative video that is consistent with the university’s brand

  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with department and university colleagues

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

The opportunities at Saint Leo University are as diverse as our student population. As Florida’s first Catholic institution of higher learning, we offer more than 40 academic programs that meet the educational, spiritual, and professional goals of nearly 16,000 traditional-age and adult students.
