Director of the Simpson Centre for Agricultural and Food Innovation and Public Education

The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) and the School of Public Policy invite applications for an Associate Professor (with tenure) or a Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position from scholars with expertise in Agri-food Policy and/or Agribusiness. The successful candidate will serve as the inaugural Director of the Simpson Centre for Agricultural and Food Innovation and Public Education. This position will be in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with a 75% secondment to the School of Public Policy.

As Director of the Simpson Centre for Agricultural and Food Innovation and Public Education the successful applicant will be tasked with establishing and leading the Simpson Centre, which will focus on the development of sound public policy on issues related to the agri-food sector, notably innovation in livestock production, food safety, and market development. The Director will engage with interested academics from across campus to develop innovative research initiatives and work with members of the agriculture and food industries to disseminate knowledge and promote best practices.

This position will be at the rank of Associate Professor (with tenure) or Assistant Professor (tenure track). Applicants at the Associate Professor level must provide evidence of an established, externally funded research program, a strong publication record, evidence of successful teaching and graduate supervision, and evidence of established academic engagement in professional communities, government, and the agri-food industry. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must present evidence of an on-going research program beyond the doctoral dissertation, a publication record, evidence of successful teaching, and evidence of engagement with professional communities, government and/or the agri-food industry.
