Oracle Database Engineer Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 202001091121 Full Time 8AM - 5PM Commensurate with Experience Position Information Under the direction of the Manager of Database Engineering, the Oracle Database Engineer will provide oversight for direction of database technologies and disciplines, which include: database administration, database design, standards and procedures, and database development for an Oracle environment that optimizes systems reliability and performance for all the University's customers. This role will manage and deliver database design, performance tuning and hands on administration of server databases, as well as database tools and services supporting Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and business intelligence technologies including Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition (OBIEE). This position will require the ability to work with other Database Engineers, and with the developers in an effective manner. This position works with project and production support teams to plan and implement application and infrastructure requirements. The Oracle Database Engineer will also maintain all environments in support of development, testing, and production in accordance to Information Technology Solutions (ITS) architecture principles. Experience Experience Requirement 6 - 10 years of related experience. Required Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience working with Oracle 11g in Unix and Linux environments. Required Extensive experience managing databases across a variety of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows and Linux. Required Minimum of 3 - 5 years of Oracle database administration, with an emphasis on capacity planning, disaster recovery and performance tuning. Preferred

Skills associated with implementing database enhancements that improve performance and reliability of the system at the software, hardware and operating system level.
Skills necessary to develop procedures and standards relating to database management systems.
Strong security skills for protecting the operating system, software, data and hardware. Technical skills to develop, implement and test disaster recovery functions using backup technologies.
Knowledge of conceptual database design.
Knowledge of test software code in client server environment.
Demonstrates interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, service orientation, active listening, effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills.
Broad knowledge of the IT environment.
Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks. Ability to work independently on complex technical projects as well as on a team of technical professionals and relevant decision-makers.
Knowledge relating to capacity planning and interface specifications.
Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.
Advanced knowledge of database management systems and standards.
Knowledgeable about professional approaches and relevant standards and technology for management of unstructured data such as text and images.
Strong background administering Oracle databases using various Oracle and non-Oracle database tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, Recovery Manager (RMAN), SQL Loader, Erwin Recovery Manager (ERD) tools, etc.
Strong knowledge of Oracle 11g/12c Administration.
Ability to manage database replication with Data Guard.
Strong understanding of storage technologies, such as Storage Area Network (SAN), device-mapper multipath, and Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
Background in Banner, Peoplesoft, or other three-tier architectures using WebLogic server.
