The Departmentof Neurology at the University of Colorado, AnschutzMedical Campus is seeking to recruit dynamic candidates to expand its clinicaland basic science research programs within our several of our sub-specialties.The position is full-time faculty (rank is determined based on knowledge andexperience), with the opportunity for academic promotion, which isdetermined on criteria of demonstrated excellence in the areas of education,research, clinical care, and community service. The position is located at the University ofColorado - Anschutz Medical Campus.  Hours will be dependent on business need(i.e., patient volume, schedules, research study needs). Weare the premier research university in Colorado, serving more than 30,000undergraduate, graduate and health professions students in Denver, Aurora andonline and awarding nearly 4,000 degrees each year. The renowned researchersand award-winning faculty offer more than 100-degree programs through 13colleges and schools. In the 2017-2018 fiscal year, the University’s School ofMedicine was awarded more than $516.2 million in research grants and contracts.The Anschutz Medical Campus includes over 5 millionsquare feet of research, educational and clinical space on 227 acres.


This faculty position will work in the Epilepsy Section, which currently has 12 Epileptologists, 5 APPs, and 2 fellows. The sectionis expanding into other areas within the Denver metro area. The EpilepsySection runs several multidisciplinary collaborative and critical care clinicsincluding the Epilepsy pregnancy clinic, Tuberous Sclerosis clinic,Non-Epileptic Seizure clinic, Neuro-feedback clinic, Diet clinic,Neuro-modulation clinic, Pre-surgery clinic, Surgery clinic, and Tele-epilepsy.The Epileptologists and Epilepsy APPs also rotate through and are responsiblefor staffing the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and inpatient EEG service(cEEG). All of these activities take place at UCHealth or surrounding Denvermetro assigned sites. Opportunities are available to join or develop clinicaland basic science research related to epilepsy and to participate inadministrative or educational leadership and in program development.

Job Responsibilities:

The duties in this faculty position will include teaching,research and service responsibilities. The overall determination of researchand clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject tothe determination of the Section Head.

Clinicalduties may include responsibilities at the faculty-levelfor in-patient / out-patient services as well as consultations, and emergencyconsultation of the Neurology Department. While on service, obligations will includesupervision of medical students, residents, and some fellows, supervision ofpatient procedures, and teaching of the house-staff as well as students.

Teachingactivities including attending neurology services, leading teaching conferencesand training medical students, residents, and fellows.

Administrativeresponsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development ofcritical pathways, committee work and projects aimed at improving the specialtyand department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time willbe spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance atmeetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs isexpected. Other duties may be assigned as need arises.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be Board Certified or eligible to be boardcertified before start date
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtainedon or before hire date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed fellowship training in a Neurological specialty
  • A record of previous or current research funding is highlydesirable
  • Additional board certifications eligibility
