Job Summary
The Advertising Coordinator manages overall University advertising efforts, including negotiating advertising rates and contracts, producing reports on advertising spending, managing advertising traffic, contributing to creative development, and researching advertising and media trends to inform media strategy. This position is also responsible for reviewing data, analyzing results, and recommending changes to the advertising strategy. The Advertising Coordinator reports to the Associate Director for Marketing Communications.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Negotiates advertising rates and contracts for all advertising originating from the Office of University Communications in all target markets, tracks spending, initiates accounts payable functions and manages advertising traffic.

  • Conducts in-person and phone meetings to develop and maintain positive relationships with advertising sales representatives, including traveling to other locations for meetings when necessary.

  • Coordinates digital advertising efforts, including social media ads, by identifying appropriate ad formats and audience targeting. Analyzes data directly from social media platforms, Google Analytics, and Sprout Social to evaluate results. Coordinates the development of related digital assets including ad content and landing pages.

  • Produces detailed reports on Office of University Communications’ advertising spending and results.

  • Researches existing and emerging media to inform ongoing media strategy development.

  • Works with a team to produce advertising content. Ensures creative assets are finalized and implemented by established deadlines, and completes other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, communications or related field
  • Professional or personal experience with a variety of social media and digital media platformsValid driver’s license

  • Ability to complete occasional day travel to other locations as needed to fulfill job responsibilities
  • Efficient computer skills, particularly in the use of email, digital calendars, task management software, and the internet as a research tool
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills for completing tracking and reporting tasks, including the creation of formulas, pivot tables and charts
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to synthesize information and express complex thoughts concisely
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with traditional and/or digital advertising (professional experience or an internship)Experience using Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads, and Google Analytics
