Description

Teach courses in Health & Physical Fitness based on instructor's qualifications.

Essential Functions

Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments and papers. Prepare and deliver instructional materials (i.e. syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts) in person and/or on-line. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Compile, administer, and grade examinations. Participate in required reporting processes (i.e. grades, participation, etc.). Assist students in connecting to college resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a Master degree or higher in Health and Physical Fitness, Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF or closely related field; OR a Master degree in any field with 18 graduate hours in Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF, or closely related field; or Master degree in any field with Professional Counseling License (LPC) to teach Stress Management (HPF 277) and Managing Stress and Holistic Health (HPF 283).

Must have a Bachelor degree or higher in Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF or closely related field; or a Bachelor degree in any field plus 18 hours in Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Health Studies, Social Work, HPF, or closely related field to teach Wellness (HPF 160)

Must have a Bachelor degree or higher in HPF or related field and current CPR certification; or a Bachelor degree in any field, certification in personal training, group fitness, or related area, 2 years of experience, and CPR certification to teach HPF 168, 186 and 268.

Must have 2 years of experience coaching golf and/or working as a golf professional and current CPR certification to teach HPF 110.

Must have Certification in specific field/area (yoga, group cycling or Aerobic Rhythms and a current CPR Certification to teach (HPF 119 & 143 - Yoga, HPF 141-Group Cycling, HPF 169 - Aerobic Rhythms).

Must have 2 years of experience as a personal trainer or certified group fitness instructor and current CPR certification or a Bachelor degree or higher in HPF and current CPR Certification to teach HPF 161 (Personalized Fitness) or HPF 182 (Light Walking).

Must have 2 years of experience as personal trainer, certified group fitness instructor or track and field coach and a current CPR certification or a Bachelor or higher in HPF and a current CPR Certification to teach HPF 187 (Interval Training).

Must have a Master degree or higher in Sports Management, HPF, Business (MBA) or closely related field or a Master degree in any field with 18 graduate hours in Sports Management, HPF, business or closely related field to teach HPF 173 (Sport Matters).

Adjunct instructors are not employed directly by Jackson College with the exception of those receiving a pension from the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System. All others are employed by EDUStaff, LLC. If you are selected to teach at Jackson College you will be required to complete EDUStaff's employment application and on-boarding processes. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background as part of the employment process.

A copy of Jackson College's Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report is available on the JC Campus Safety & Security website. The security report contains crime statistics for the previous three years (2014-2016) for all of our campus locations and the annual fire safety report, which contains statistics for any reported fires in campus housing units and fire safety systems in these buildings. Additionally, the report contains policies, available resources and information concerning personal safety, fire safety and reporting procedures for both crimes and fires.
