Job Description:

We are seeking Culinary Arts Adjunct Instructors to teach culinary arts courses in food service production or baking or sanitation and safety, in a diverse work environment, while demonstrating sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities. Must be able to teach culinary arts courses in a college setting; develop course syllabus, teaching materials, activities, and handouts for each section/course taught; prepare and deliver lectures; maintain accurate student records and be willing and able to teach day or evening classes.


Required: Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or related field; currently ServSafe Manager Certified; three (3) years industry experience in culinary arts. Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher preferred in culinary arts or related field; currently ServSafe Instructor Certified; one (1) year teaching at the college level.

Additional Information:

This is a pooled search. Jefferson Community College is seeking to develop a pool of qualified applicants to teach Culinary Arts courses. Adjunct applications will be kept on file for three years to fill part-time teaching vacancies as they occur.

The College determines the need for adjunct instructors based on planned courses each term; it is not possible to predict the need for future semesters. When an opening does occur, finalists for adjunct positions are contacted for interviews.
