Position Summary:

Assist, tailor, and configure software/database components and tools that directly affect the University of Georgia’s administrative information staff and all users of their processes. Develop, maintain, and implement a centralized database administration function for the University of Georgia’s Administrative Information Systems. Assists in the planning for the installation and upgrading of new and existing system and subsystem applications by establishing future directions of systems growth by participating with associated groups. Be involved in functional support teams and committees that will provide information of the systems and subsystems that reside on the central server.

This position, in support of UGA Application and Database Development, will support the selection, integration, implementation and operation of system applications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist, tailor, and configure software components and tools that directly affect the University of Georgia’s administrative information staff and all users of their processes.
1. Monitor system and application performance and resource allocations, offer corrective measures.
2. Reports activities, solutions, successes, and problems of both the application and systems group to associate director.
3. Test/customize new software in target systems.
4. Resolves operational and application problems and conflicts for 24/7 availability of application services, when appropriate. The duties and responsibilities of this position require home or off campus internet service as a job requirement and the use of such internet service is for business purposes.
5. Provides leadership and is a project leader over the database and technical areas.
6. Provide technical advise and help for functions/software used by Application and Database Development and UGA staff access those systems.

Develop, maintain, and implement a centralized database administration function for the University of Georgia’s Application and Database Development Systems.
1. Develop database standards and document processes.
2. Research new technology and compatibility with existing platforms, suggesting enhancements/modifications if needed.
3. Create database objects.
4. Work with business clientele users of Application and Database Development and UGA staff that access those systems.

1. Research software installation and maintenance information.
2. Develop, coordinate and assist in migration actions and strategies related to applications.
3. Prepare target and driving system for new software installation.
4. Document migration strategies for application areas.

Be involved in functional support teams and committees that will provide information of the systems and subsystems that reside on the central server.
1. Participates on ADD, EITS, campus-wide, and external IT committees, task forces, and working groups that support or enhance information technology at UGA.
2. Collaborates, partners, and develops relationships with other campus units, committees, individual faculty, staff, and students.

Project Management
1. Partner with the EITS Project Management team to develop project plans, including work breakdowns, timelines, milestones, resources needed, risks, issues, and campus impact.
2. Supervise and provide guidance to project team members; track progress and bring risks or issues to the attention of leadership for awareness and resolution.
3. Thoroughly document all stages of the project from initiation through completion.
