This is a 10-month fixed-term appointment. Rank will be established at point of hire. Expected begin date is August 2020.
Western Carolina University is seeking a qualified fixed-term non-tenure professor of practice to enhance its academic program in television and digital media. This position will oversee the technical operation of a high definition television studio designed and installed by Sony. Teach/co-teach a limited number of classes per year providing instruction in television and video technologies and content creation processes. The position will also be responsible for field equipment check out to students and faculty.

Must be skilled in using high definition television and video production computer applications for content acquisition, routing, switching, storage, and editing.
The successful candidate must have experience with and demonstrate excellent working knowledge of studio and field HD cameras, large format HD video switchers and audio consoles, audio and video routers, fiber optic video transmission, digital storage, video editing, and studio IFB and intercom systems. Additionally, the individual should have experience with local networks for audio and video content transfer. Individual must have the necessary experience and technical expertise to work with equipment manufacturer’s technicians to diagnose equipment issues and to resolve such in a timely manner.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for teaching are B.S. or B.A. with documented national or international professional experience in video production or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (or a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).Preferred Qualifications
