Boston University is seeking a passionate, experienced solutions builder and technologist for the Manager, CRM Development role who will be a member of the Boston University Information Services and Technology team.

They will work closely with the cross-functional team, client stakeholders to navigate the Salesforce technical landscape.

They will be responsible for providing technical leadership on projects to support Recruiting, Admissions, and Marketing goals that shall enable Boston University's academic, administrative and ancillary processes - by providing necessary guidance to team members to follow SDLC and Salesforce best practices while leading them to successful delivery. This individual will manage, coach, and mentor three technical staff or student employees.

Essential functions of this position are:

  • Provide technical leadership and manage development team members.
  • Results-oriented that will lead to good issue resolution and solution delivery practices maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing periodic code reviews, best practices that should be in alignment with BUs best practices, guidelines, and standards.
  • Participate in strategic service management planning in coordination with operational support and maintenance of CRM & Marketing-Communication based services.
  • This includes consulting on or working or delegating incidents, service requests, defects, and enhancements,
  • Invests time learning/enhancing skills for self and team members on Salesforce, MarketingCloud, and related technologies by active participation in technology users groups and professional organizations and formal training or degree programs.
Required Skills
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Well-rounded IT work experience in Software Development/engineering with a progressive trajectory of implementations using object-oriented designs with Java, advanced web development skills, and Salesforce.
  • Several years of full life cycle solutions delivered with strong expertise and hands-on experience on Salesforce products and lightning platform with declarative configuration and Apex/Lightning/API development.
  • 5+ years of technical experience working with complex Salesforce ecosystem as well as experience with non-Salesforce enterprise systems.
  • Experience working with complex Salesforce and other enterprise systems.
  • Manage source control repository, Release (deployments) & environments.
  • Build team improvement and development goals and maintain training plans.
  • Establish periodic code reviews to ensure best practices are followed and drive quality, standardization, and consistency. Demonstrated knowledge of the overall software development lifecycle and enterprise integration frameworks • Demonstrated knowledge of project management concepts and frameworks such as waterfall, Prince 2, Scrum, or agile development methodologies
  • Experience with basic SharePoint functionality a plus.
  • Prior experience with ITIL or equivalent Service Management framework and ServiceNow is a plus
  • Advanced computer skills in the following software packages: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to work with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business partners within the University to elicit the information necessary for project technical design.
  • Possesses the ability to multi-task and switch priorities.

  • Preferred/Desired: Salesforce and MarketingCloud certifications
