Position Summary:

The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 14 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.

This position creates and maintains the Waisman Center's technical infrastructure by performing systems engineering work that is complex, project related, and non-routine, with the ability to solve complex problems and devise work approaches to the work being performed to ensure the long term requirements of systems operations and administration are met under limited supervision. This position will maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of enterprise hardware, software and network systems to support the goals and work of Waisman Center faculty, staff and students. This position requires the ability to troubleshoot, work independently on routine tasks, collaborate with others on more complex assignments, and plan future service upgrades or transitions that both optimize investment in technology and better meet Waisman Center needs. Main areas of focus include managing endpoints through installation and maintenance of supported management tools, developing and providing software installation packages, addressing cybersecurity incidents and actively managing and participating in help desk services.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A Bachelor's Degree is required. A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

The following is required:
- At least two years or more of experience supporting IT services in a computer and/or technology-intensive unit.
- Systems administration experience with Windows, Macintosh, and/or Linux.
- Experience in supporting network technology and security in a heterogeneous enterprise network.
- Solutions-oriented approach in analyzing and resolving hardware, software and network problems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple, often-competing requests and initiatives.

Well-qualified candidates will also have the following preferred experience:
- Experience analyzing Windows event logs.
- Familiarity using case management/ticketing systems.
- Administrative experience with Windows Active Directory and/or Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.
- Administrative experience with Endpoint Management tools.
- Experience managing software licenses, deploying operating systems and applications to multiple systems.
- Supervisory experience.
