Description:

Under supervision of the Director, and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, this position will perform all financial accounting and customer relations functions. Acts as the primary contact for students, parents, faculty, staff and other parties concerning student tuition accounts. Performs miscellaneous duties in connection with billing such as processing and reconciliation of daily cash receipts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain accounts through the timely posting of all student, miscellaneous departmental and club transactions.
  • Interpret and analyze activity on accounts by accessing Banner and other relevant databases and websites.
  • Serve as front-line contact responding professionally and courteously to inquiries.
  • Oversee stop payment/replacement check issuance and the escheatment process.
  • Coordinate ordering of supplies and tracking.
  • Processing of returned mail.
  • Petty cash management and reconciliation.
  • Vault management.
  • Counsel customers regarding student related functions of other College departments.
  • Timely management of sponsored students , accurate invoicing of sponsors, documented contact and recommendation of initiatives and assessment of outcomes to enhance services.Collaboration with the Veterans Success office to ensure accurate update/reconciliation.
  • Re-assignment of unpaid 3rd party balances, prompt billing and contact with students.
  • General office maintenance service calls.
  • Perform other institutional projects and duties as assigned.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related business discipline
  • Two years of cash handling experience required
  • Strong computer skills, especially proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of accounts receivable and reconciliation principles
  • Detail oriented and able to meet deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related business discipline
  • Previous experience with Banner and People Soft software

Job requires extended work hours during peak work periods as determined by the needs of the College. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
