Position Description:
As a member of the Student Applications team the Senior Application Developer provides broad and integrated applications design, development and ongoing support for campus-wide, mission-critical, large-scale multi-user production systems. The Senior Application Developer will be assigned to our admissions systems for Undergraduate, Graduate and Professional Schools admissions, including UC System-wide admissions coordination for Undergraduate admissions. The Senior Application Developer acts as primary analyst for assigned area while also working with other departments to provide applications support; may coordinate the work of less experienced application development staff or analysts; provides ongoing technical support for enhancements, bug-fixes and application modifications. Analyzes application and system performance to ensure optimization and stability of applications; conducts technical analysis of system integration requirements and ensures interfaces are maintained; provides recommendations on improvement of systems, applications and life-cycle management processes and tools. The Senior Application Developer ensures applications are thoroughly tested and meets stakeholder requirements; collaborates with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop and execute test plans. The Senior Developer works collaboratively with users, subject matter experts, stakeholders and application development teams to gather technical requirements, develop system documentation, develops technical design of highly complex systems and interfaces; develops detailed project plans to ensure delivery of systems within scope and timeline. Participates in research of emerging technologies to determine feasibility; develops proof of concept applications, develops reports and white papers for leadership; contributes to application life-cycle process improvement activities. May provide after-hours support as needed or assigned.
