Job Summary:The primary responsibilities of a tutor are to aid students to become more independent learners, persevere in college, and reach their goals. Tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses based on their personal area of expertise. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes and help students solve specific problems. This position can be either on or off campus. Can work up to 19 hours per week. Pay: $10.00 an hour
Required Education :High School Diploma or GED
Required Skills & Abilities:•Math/Writing Peer Tutors (students) must have a recommendation from a faculty member and have completed a college level math course with an A or B and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
•Professional tutors must submit transcripts and have successfully completed college math and/or writing courses with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Assisting adult learners in the Student Success Center with college level and college preparatory coursework.
North Central Texas College is a member of the College Reading & Learning Association (www.crla.net) and all tutors must attend mandatory training.
Must be people oriented and able to multitask. Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
