Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Department Summary: This position provides expertise in the area of Compensation and Classification. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing staff position descriptions for classification and compensation, evaluating FLSA status and AAP coding, and benchmarking UA staff positions. This position compiles salary information for salary surveys and consults with departments on classification, compensation practices, promotions, and issues related to pay.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources and one (1) year of experience; OR Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of human resources experience. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student-oriented experience will be considered. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations affecting HR. Must have a knowledge of compensation principles and practices. Must have a knowledge of FLSA regulations. Must be able to build, maintain, and work effectively with colleagues, faculty, staff and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Effective organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills. Must be self-directed, detail oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with a diverse group of department representatives and employees at all levels. Must stay current on all federal, state, and local laws governing compensation. Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential matters and situations. Must have a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and able to quickly learn new systems and applications.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development. Experience working in the area of compensation and classification. Currently certified as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred. Experience reviewing position descriptions for classification and FLSA status. Knowledge of current job markets and trends. Experience in higher education.
