The University of Virginia’s School of Nursing (SON) seeks a Coordinator for Recruitment and Community Engagement to partner with faculty and staff to increase diversity in the student population using a community engagement model. The Coordinator will assist students with the application and admissions process, reviews applications, and will develop trusting relationships with communities in the targeted areas of Charlottesville, Richmond and northern Virginia.

The Coordinator for Recruitment and Community Engagement will work with the BSN Program Director and team to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive plan for the recruitment and enrollment of qualified and diverse students for the RN-BSN nursing program. They will provide prospective RN-BSN students with detailed, program-specific information via various communication channels. The Coordinator will assist prospective students, both in person, and at a distance, in the decision-making, application, and enrollment process. They will represent the SON in recruitment events around the state and in admissions information sessions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A Minimum of 3 years of experience in student services, admissions, or related field
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including the ability to “meet people where they are”
  • Understanding of basic relationship-building approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment in both the academic and community settings
  • Commitment to service of diverse and priority populations across the lifespan in a responsive, community-based approach
  • Ability to use computer with Apple and/or Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience with academic-community partnerships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community outreach and partnerships
  • Experience in building healthcare educational networks across multiple system access points
  • Knowledge of recruitment and admission best practices

Anticipated hiring range: $49,000 - $52,000

The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check prior to their first day of employment per University policy.

This is a restricted position and continuation will be based on availability of funding and satisfactory performance
