Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the IT Director, this position provides IT support for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS). This position is responsible for providing daily helpdesk support to DOVS faculty and staff. As a helpdesk support/customer service technician, this position requires a highly trained individual who has acquired a broad knowledge of general IT concepts, principles, practices, and techniques and whose expertise must span multiple technologies across network, hardware, and software platforms. This position is expected to maintain a high degree of customer service and wil provide in-house training for all staff related IT hardware and software. The incumbent must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

2 or more years of experience in technical support of Windows 10, and OSX client desktop environment is required.

2 or more years deploying and supporting software in a Windows Active Directory domain environment is preferred.

1 or more years supporting virtualization technology (VMware) is preferred.

Additional Information:

Excellent verbal and written communications. Excellent customer service skills.

In achievement and prestige, the University of Wisconsin–Madison has long been recognized as one of America's great universities.
