Adjunct must live within 60 miles of the Cleveland area
The adjunct faculty position inundergraduate Mathematics is in the Division of Liberal Arts (DOLA) in theCollege of Adult and Professional Studies. Adjunct instructors will educateadult learners by teaching primarily through an online modality with the possibilityof a hybrid modality in certain regions (hybrid = some onsite or synchronousvideo conference/some online). The ideal candidate will have a doctorate withevidence of no less than 18 graduate hours of coursework in Mathematics.Masters level and ABD applicants will be considered. Candidates must becommitted to a Christ-centered, Christian faith-based approach to education andbe comfortable teaching within the Wesleyan theological perspective.
Adjunctfaculty are professionals with the responsibility of providing a qualitylearning experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjunct facultyreport to a program director and perform instruction related duties andresponsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policiesand procedures of the college. The adjunct faculty member will employ a rangeof suitable strategies to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions,encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper class relatedrecords, promptly assess student coursework, and apprise students of progress.The adjunct faculty member will be articulate, current within his or herdiscipline, and demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning.
Required: Amaster’s degree with minimum of 18 graduate, semester hours in the disciplinestated in the Title of Posting.
Preferred: Ph.D.or other doctorate with a minimum of 18 graduate, semester hours in thediscipline stated in theTitle of Posting.
1. Experience in teaching undergraduate Mathematicscourses at the college level.
2. Possess a strong Christiancommitment with willingness to adhere to the IWU Community Lifestyle statement.
3.Proficiency with adult learner andragogy is preferred.
