Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations (ELC) in the School of Education seeks an accomplished and visionary tenured faculty member at the rank of Associate or Full Professor who will serve as Chair of the Department.

ELC is both practitioner and research intensive. We are committed to the values of equity and social justice, democratic participation, caring, and educational quality and innovation in schools and throughout the public realm. With these values in mind, we seek to understand and change the theories, policies, and practices that are enacted in schools, communities, and other educational and cultural contexts. We endeavor to prepare exceptional educational leaders who are intent on transforming education and critically engaged academics who seek to challenge the intellectual status quo. We offer on-campus programming as well as a range of alternative programs and courses, including web-based instruction and distance education.

The Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations is housed within the School of Education at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which The Carnegie Foundation has classified as a higher-research activity university and has certified as a community-engaged institution in both curricular engagement and outreach and partnerships.
