Drexel University seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and strategic leader to serve as Dean of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design (Westphal College). Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean will lead the College with an eye toward teaching and innovating at the cutting edge of design, media, and the arts, and the vision to continue shaping a range of forward-looking programs into the next era of excellence. The Dean will join an engaged faculty with an abiding commitment to undergraduate education as well as robust and growing graduate programs. This is an exceptional opportunity for a creative and collaborative leader to build on Drexel’s position as one of the nation’s leading private, comprehensive, research universities with a historical commitment to impactful teaching, research, and technological leadership.

Drexel’s historical foundation as an institution committed to solving problems in science, industry, business, and the arts, as well as its more recent expansion into fields such as medicine, public health, and law, has established the University as a global leader in research, technology, and experiential learning. Located in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Drexel employs over 2,400 faculty members and has a total enrollment of approximately 24,000 students. The quality of the student experience is a central value, demonstrated by its 89 percent freshman retention rate, which is largely attributed to its unique cooperative education program. Since its founding, Drexel has been committed to preparing its students for a rapidly changing workforce. It is one of America's largest private research universities and is consistently ranked among the top 100 national research universities in the United States by notable publications such as U.S. News and World Report, the Wall Street Journal, and Times Higher Education US College Rankings.

Westphal College is an integral member of the University community, emphasizing a unique approach to teaching across undergraduate and graduate degree programs with small class sizes and a hands-on learning experience. The programs empower students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in highly competitive creative fields. The Westphal College faculty is comprised of scholars and professionals at the top of their fields: winning Emmy Awards, designing for top fashion houses, creating art exhibited in the world's great museums, and as leaders of major cultural organizations and media companies. The College is home to 119 full-time faculty, approximately 2,100 undergraduate students and 260 graduate students across 7 departments and 17 academic programs. The Dean will be expected to foster partnerships within Westphal College, across the Drexel community, and throughout the artistic and creative industries in the surrounding greater Philadelphia area and beyond.
