Primary Purpose: Connect donors and potential donors with opportunities to advance the College of Law through financial contributions and volunteer leadership.

  • Identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts prospects; recommend and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies of individual prospects, working with administration, faculty and volunteers as appropriate; meet with prospects and volunteers, traveling as necessary.
  • Steward current donors and provide outstanding customer service, proposing renewals and upgrades for annual gifts as appropriate.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 120 prospects through the fundraising cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Work with the Director to outline annual and incremental quantitative fundraising goals and align activity to meet or exceed these goals.
  • Commit to a reasonable average number of weekly and monthly donor contacts and proposals in pursuit of annual departmental goal.
  • Travel frequently throughout Florida and occasionally beyond visiting with the alumni and supporters of the College of Law. In conjunction with this travel, some night and weekend work is required
  • Create compelling, unique proposals for donors to upgrade their giving or invest for the first time.
  • Occasionally provide support with creative writing, public speaking, and other communications activities.
  • Complete contact reports for all interactions of significance
  • Conduct research on prospects
  • Maintain knowledge of current tax laws, investments and planned giving opportunities; use knowledge in prospect cultivation and solicitation as appropriate.
  • Assist administrators and faculty in the recognition and prioritization of institutional and departmental funding needs; keep abreast of institutional and departmental priorities, University programs, personalities and events.
  • Maintain personal image and professional demeanor consistent with service as the representative of a prestigious law college.
  • Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills

Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college of university; have or develop and maintain a working knowledge of estate planning principles and a clear understanding of all forms of annual, capital and deferred gifts. Additional special skills and characteristics include the following:

  • Outgoing professional advisor with experience building client relationships and a passion for the mission of the College of Law.
  • Strong proven interpersonal skills to deal effectively with board members, internal organizational leadership and other Development & Alumni Relations staff, as well as donors and prospects and their advisors.
  • Integrity coupled with the ability to engender trust and confidence.
  • Proactive strategic thinker.
  • Energetic team player.
  • Ability to actively listen; good observation skills.
  • Strong communication skills, articulate, conceptual and persuasive.
  • Goal and task oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Good judgment and initiative.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Ability to work autonomously in carrying out assigned responsibilities while answering formally to the Director.
  • Works to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Preferred:

  • Strongly prefer three to five years’ experience in a non-profit organization(s) or in a closely related field such as estate, tax or financial planning.
  • Raisers Edge experience, a plus.
