Responsibilities

Provides information about higher education generally and UC Berkeley specifically one-on-one and to groups. 
  •     Counsel prospective applicants by phone, email, online, and in person about the MBA Program, admissions requirements and procedures, university standards of preparation for MBA study, recruitment events, and visiting Haas.
  •     Responds to inquiries from prospective students regarding entrance requirements, application procedures, financial aid availability, housing.

    Provides substantive information on admissions requirements, school/college programs and curricula, financial aid, housing, and career opportunities. 
  •     Partner with supervisor to develop documentation on all admissions requirements and criteria, university standards of scholarship preparation for MBA study, processes and policies.
  •     Conduct preliminary assessment of academic records and credentials; ensure applications meet standards for review.
  •     Work with supervisor to develop ongoing training regimen for admissions team on new initiatives, designations, technologies, and policies.
  •     Attend classes which will enhance expertise in job areas.
  •     Serve on departmental and campus-wide committees as appropriate.
  •     Participate in activities that enhance the campus community and/or larger community to further University service.
  •     Maintain knowledge of the FTMBA unit business processes in order to provide back-up to other support staff in the unit.
  •     Work on special projects as assigned.

    Performs recruitment activities, including writing or editing materials, and representing the school/college/department at admissions events and other forums. 
  •     Plan, coordinate, participate in, and/or provide administrative support to recruiting events and activities as necessary.

    Under direction and guidance, develops and implements processes and communications to enhance recruitment and yield. 
  •     Exercises professional judgment in reviewing, evaluating, and recommending applicants for admission using established guidelines.
  •     Coordinate and conduct various audits of existing processes and identify process efficiencies where appropriate.
  •     Liaise with graduate division to troubleshoot issues with admitted applicants on pre-enrollment matters (both academic and non-academic) 
  •     Communicate with colleagues within the department and other UC Berkeley departments as necessary on questionable and problematic cases.
  •     Prioritize and develop new processes to ensure the timely completion of files.
  •     Other data oriented projects as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

  •    Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
  •    The Ability to learn and interpret policies and procedures to prospective applicants and the public.
  •     Working knowledge, or the ability to learn, of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs at UC Berkeley.
  •    Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations and other institutions. 
  •    Working knowledge of admissions requirements for campus/school/college or the ability.
  •    Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse communities externally and within the organization, in order to present information in a clear and concise manner. 

    Education/Training:
  •    Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

    Salary & Benefits

    This is a non-exempt, biweekly paid position. The hourly pay of the position is up to $33.05, commensurate with experience.
