Job Description Summary

This is a Medical Physics training position. The trainee will work under the supervision of the Medical Physics Residency Coordinator and the Medical Physics
Course Leader. The trainee will assist faculty physicists and hospital staff physicists with all aspects of routine medical physics procedures in the Department of Radiation Oncology on a clinical rotation basis. The Department of Radiation Oncology does not sponsor fees for H1-B/permanent resident candidates.

Job Description

The Medical Physicist Trainee will participate in clinical and technical subjects pertinent to radiation oncology physics including: megavoltage photon and electron therapy, simulation/CTsimulation, 2D and 3D computerized dose planning, intensity modulated radiation therapy, treatment aids, calibration and periodic QA of therapy equipment, interstitial and intracavitary radiation, radiopharmaceutical therapy, radiation safety procedures, special procedures(TBI, radiosurgery,etc.) and protons. The trainee will also participate in clinical implementation projects (linear accelerator and treatment planning system commissioning, etc.). Proficiency in all aspects of external beam QA procedures including photon, electron, and photon beams should be achieved. Working out of regularly scheduled clinic hours is necessary to perform many of medical physics procedures such as accelerator beam calibration and QA. Will Participate in departmental training sessions, didactic courses and conferences.

Qualifications:

The minimum of a Master's degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. The position is also open to those with a doctoral degree in Medical Physics, Physics or a related field. The Medical Physics resident will be expected to work in this training position for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 3 years.
