Life Science Research Professional 2
Stanford University
Job Number: 85888
Grade: G
FTE: 100% FTE
The Davis lab at Stanford School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative and well organized Life Science Research Professional 2 with experience in in vivo experimentation to support our work in identifying and targeting relapse causing cell populations in childhood leukemia. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the fundamental mechanisms and cellular species that enable relapse in childhood cancer, primarily in leukemia. To do so, we utilize high dimensional single cell platforms, including mass cytometry, to profile primary human tumor tissues and identify cellular subpopulations associated with clinical outcomes of interest. Our laboratory seeks to develop improved prognostic tools and develop improved strategies for therapeutic targeting of relapse associated cellular species. In vivo experimentation is critical for the development and assessment of leukemogenic potential of candidate cell populations, for expansion of cellular populations and for testing therapeutic strategies to target these cells. Primary responsibilities linked to this position are to develop animal models of these leukemias, perform limiting diluation assays to assess potency and assess efficacy of diverse therapies under development in the lab. Also, the maintenance of mice colonies, design and conduct in vivo experiments and provide technical assistance to other researchers performing in vivo experimentation. Other job duties include maintaining excellent lab records and animal inventory, report weekly to supervisor, effectively communicate experimental results to the team and the principal investigator, and train other lab personnel on basic animal experimentation techniques.
