Performs maintenance and repair of operational support equipment for the Marine Operations at UNCW’s Center for Marine Science

Participates in the daily operation, maintenance and allocation of equipment resourced in support of the marine research projects

Duties will include hull repair, electrical repair, rigging, safety gear, keeping maintenance logs of small vessels and motors, and assist in the fabrication of parts in our machine shop for the vessel fleet and scientific gear

Outboard motor maintenance includes oil changes, spark plugs, fuel filters, and fueling vessel

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Position requires ability to lift 75 pounds, working in noisy and confined spaces, and perform duties outdoors year round

Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the positionPreferred formal education or training, professional skills and work experience

Preferred skills: Able to repair fiberglass, wood, and metal construction and be able to perform trailer maintenance of bearing, electrical hook-ups, and structural repairs

Boating experience with ability to meet USCG Drug Free standards or current USCG Captains License.
