The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center, located in the western suburbs of Chicago, is searching for a surgeon educator to serve as Director of Surgical Education and Training. The Director will oversee the education and training of fellows, residents and medical students within the Department of Surgery. The department has eight different training programs. This position has protected time for the performance of education and research. Funds to advance the simulation program are available. This individual will lead efforts to advance education and training research, as well as scholarly activity related to education.

Applicants can be from the Associate or Professor level. Individuals interested in this position must be a board-certified, clinically active surgeon who has recognized accomplishments and specific training in surgical education. A master’s degree in education is preferred and grant funding related to education is ideal. The individual must be board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and be licensed to practice in the State of Illinois at the time of hire.
