Job Summary:

Tutors work directly with kindergarten through 6th grade students to improve their reading skills.

Job Description:

Tutors perform one-on-one work with individual students, small group work, or class activities. Tutors collaborate with America Reads/Counts supervisors, teachers, and after-school program coordinators to assess students’ needs and how to best address them.
Tutors are expected to be positive role models inside and outside of the classroom, and be professional in their work place behavior. This means showing up to work on time and making the proper contacts when sick or late.
Tutors must commit to work consistent hours throughout the quarter.

• Pay varies based on where each school site is located (ranges from $10-15/hour or higher based on skill set)

America Reads and America Counts is a Federal Work Study program for qualifying Furman students to tutor primarily elementary and middle school students throughout Greenville County.

• You will be able to choose the school or community organization where you would like to tutor.
• Your schedule can be flexible. You will coordinate with your site supervisor; they are happy to work with your availability!
