Departmental Overview

The Business Process Management Office (BPMO) provides portfolio and project management, process improvement, and change management services to ensure alignment and accountability of strategic projects in support to the Vice Chancellor of Administration and associated units, including the newly-formed service-delivery regions. 

As a member of the Metrics & Reporting Team in the Business Process Management Office (BPMO) in the VCA Immediate Office, the position involves analytical studies on a variety of policies, processes, projects, programs and issues in support of functions, programs and organizational units, as well as in research of new or changing systems, processes and programs within the VCA Division. 

Responsibilities

Develops and presents complex proposals and/or plans on a broad range of metrics and reporting issues to include problem identification, costs, benefits and options. Provides in-depth and highly complex data analysis and reporting services to UCB client units across a broad spectrum of programs, policies and initiatives by facilitating, developing and implementing projects that provide the following services:
  • ad hoc data analysis
  • self-serve operational reports
  • strategic metrics programs
  • survey services
  • Other as assigned

Participates in BPMO process improvement projects by providing expertise and leading or participating in the following activities:
  • Intake business case analysis
  • Gather baseline data and identify what data will be needed throughout project (includes process metrics)
  • Identify, develop and track project and process measurements of success
  • Identify, develop and track quarterly portfolio health metrics
  • Other as assigned

Provides on-going deliverables to the VCA Immediate Office.

Participates in change management activities including developing Training, Job aids and Communications tailored to specific audiences utilizing stakeholder analysis methodologies.

Makes high-level contacts of a sensitive nature, internally and externally requiring discretion and diplomacy in order to negotiate with or persuade officials to adopt the proposed solution. 

Leads and directs a wide variety of metrics and reporting related solutions and projects, and follows through with all levels of staff and individuals inside and outside the organization, utilizing meeting facilitation and project management skills and interacting with participants at all levels of the organization from line staff to leadership.

Proposes, leads and/or participates on data and reporting systems committees and working groups. Researches, summarizes and presents to campus-wide audiences best practices in field. Leads and manages the Berkeley Metrics Interest Group.

Required Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge or ability to learn of campus processes, protocols and procedures. 
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Small to mid-level project management skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. 
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Skills in:
    • technical report building in a variety of systems
    • data acquisition
    • data and financial analysis
    • report writing
    • statistical analysis
    • data visualization
    • a variety of tools and systems to produce data analysis and visualization services and deliverables such as Python, R, SQL, SPSS, Tableau

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $90,000 - $110,000.
