Job Details
The Shipley Prostate Cancer Center and Boston University-Boston Medical Center Cancer Center seek a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate mechanisms of prostate cancer progression and bone metastasis. We are a highly dynamic, interdisciplinary, collaborative group of investigators focused on cancer disparities, and we have pioneered studies of BET bromodomain regulation in cancer. Research focuses on signal transduction in the prostate microenvironment, and new approaches to understand tumor cell aggressiveness and metastasis in cancer patients with co-morbid metabolic disease. We work in a safety net hospital setting, where about half our patients are African American. We are deeply committed to ameliorate the well-known racial disparities for men with prostate cancer.
The post doc will be responsible for applying for National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants, NIH requires such individuals to be either a US citizen or a permanent resident.
Required Skills- Recent Ph.D. or MD Ph.D. graduate in cancer, molecular oncology, or related discipline
- Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology, metabolism, multiparameter flow cytometry, cell culture
- Preferred familiarity with the characterization of murine metastasis models
- Demonstrated scientific rigor, scientific excellence, and technical excellence
- Independent, highly self-motivated, and innovative
- Proven track record in the field of tumor biology, with relevant publications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Willing to seek out grant funding from external sources in support of their independent research and may participate in writing grant proposals
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and organizational skills
- Ability to excel in a goal-oriented, multifaceted, and fast-moving team environment
