Hiring occurs on an as needed, limited-term basis. Successful candidates may teach on-campus or electronically; have the ability to work with a diverse population of students and staff; and have a commitment to cultural diversity and educational equity.
Screening of candidates begins immediately.
Part Time faculty must perform duties associated with teaching at the post-secondary level in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. These include (but are not limited to): preparing lectures and their class instructional materials; preparing and leading class discussion; providing prompt responses to student questions and inquiries as well as prompt and appropriate feedback on tests, quizzes, and assignments; and following VSU policies and procedures related to teaching.
Valdosta State University currently has an urgent need for instruction in Latin for spring semester 2020.
Required QualificationsMust have earned a graduate degree from a regionally accredited university with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a related field.
A Bacholer’s Degree is acceptable for uncommonly taught languages (e.g. Japanese)
Preferred QualificationsTeaching experience at the college level both online and face-to-face.
Physical RequirementsAbility to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Essential Duties of the PositionThe duties below reflect 90% of the employee's responsibilities. There is an additional 10% reserved for professional development and any other duties that may be assigned.
