Position Summary:

The Department of Surgery is recruiting for an exceptional Academic Plastic Surgeon to join our Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence, research experience, and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience. The department provides a robust infrastructure of services to support faculty in their clinical and academic success.

Principal Duties:

Elective and emergency surgical practice will be based primarily at University Hospital and the attached American Family Children's Hospital. This position will support the division in its efforts to grow priority clinical programs such as multidisciplinary pediatric craniofacial services, orthognathic surgery, microsurgical facial reconstruction, lymphatic reconstruction, breast reconstruction, and general plastic surgery services. Call responsibilities of plastic surgery patients will be shared with divisional colleagues. Interest in global surgery and global health is preferable. An interest in research is essential.

For those appointed to the CHS title track, academic responsibilities will include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic duties and responsibilities beyond baseline faculty expectations will depend on individual interests and expertise. Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD, DO, or equivalent is required. Additional training in Plastic Surgery is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Completion of a fellowship in Craniofacial and/or Microsurgery is required.

Candidates must possess clinical and academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. Appointment as associate professor or full professor will require that candidate's credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.

License or Certificate:

Candidate is required to have or be eligible for Wisconsin and Illinois medical licenses. Board eligibility or board certification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through the American Board of Plastic Surgery or equivalent is required. Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.
