The Children’s Environmental Health Initiative (CEHI) is a research, education, and outreach program committed to fostering environments where all people can prosper. CEHI oversees multiple environmental research projects emphasizing the special vulnerabilities of children in order to advance social and environmental equity.
The intermediate statistician position offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to become part of a dynamic team working to advance social and environmental equity for all people. This position will support development and application of statistical methods to assess how environmental and social exposures affect health and developmental outcomes across time and space, requiring knowledge and application of Bayesian, spatio-temporal, and multilevel statistical models.
Success in this position requires a data analyst committed to public and environmental health and health disparities research. In addition to statistical capabilities, the intermediate statistician should be comfortable generating research questions, both individually and in collaboration with research team members; designing and implementing analyses to address research questions; and interpreting analytical results. The statistician will be involved in the writing and preparation of scientific manuscripts, from paper inception through submission and revision, as well as grant proposals. Successful applicants will be confident writers, motivated to communicate complex statistical work to both statistical and non-statistical audiences. The individual in this position functions both independently and as a member of a research/study team, working with team members with different expertise.
