Seasonal Admissions Reviewer, Office of Diversity and Inclusion

Requirements

Georgetown University School of Medicine's Office of Diversity and Inclusion is seeking two (2) Seasonal Admissions Application Reviewers for the 2019-2020 application cycle for its upcoming summer pipeline programs. Under the supervision of the Director for Diversity and Inclusion and the Senior Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, the incumbent is expected to commit to 40 hours per week from early January through May 2020. In keeping with a holistic evaluation philosophy, s/he will be responsible for meticulous reading of undergraduate transcripts, personal essays, recommendation letters and other application documents, and submitting thorough and detailed evaluation notes. The Seasonal Reviewer is required to read at a pace and comprehension level that allows completion of weekly targets of files reviewed between January and May 2020, with the number of hours required and the number of files to be read varying slightly depending on the month, with February receiving the highest volume. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Collects and manages all application materials to ensure compliance with program requirements, evaluating program applications that are over 400+.
  • Thoroughly reads, critically evaluates, and recommends appropriate admission decisions on highly competitive applications in a committee-based evaluation process.
  • Analyzes applicants' academic credentials for adherence to minimum admissions standards set by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and for adherence to higher admissions requirements set for competitive final selection.
  • Translates documents and verifies transcript authenticity based on the particular system of education evaluated,assisting with telephone and email follow-up with program applicants.
  • Maintains specific, detailed knowledge of program application requirements, deadlines, and schedule of activities.
  • Completes and submits all paperwork to ensure smooth onboarding of ARCHES fellows, sets up interviews with program candidates, and conducts interviews.
  • Carries out other admissions-related projects as assigned by the Director for Diversity and Inclusion, attending scheduled admissions evaluator meetings.
  • Maintains steady and frequent communication with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and becomes receptive to guidance and feedback from senior evaluators, being tasked with setting up interviews and interviewing applicants when needed.
  • Attends a training session (date to be determined) and is to begin reviewing files in early January 2020.

Requirements and Qualification
  • Bachelors Degree recommended
  • Excellent Reading and Writing Comprehension
  • A minimum of two to four years of progressively responsible administrative or office support experience
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and written skills with the ability to prioritize and handle confidential information
  • Ability to work alone or with others, be professional and courteous, and possess strong customer service skills
  • Punctuality and attention to detail with proficiency in MS Office Suite, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Access to a computer or mobile device to complete application rubrics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing
  • Must have the ability to participate in a fast-paced, creative, and success/deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work, and comfort with, diverse audiences
  • Incumbent must be conscientious, proactive, self-motivated and a strongpositive team player
  • Candidates must have a computer and wifi capability to access the university's secure network
