DescriptionJob Purpose: Provide clinical nursing care and education to patients within the scope of Stamps Health Services (SHS) and in accordance with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Clinical nursing: Practice safe, effective and appropriate clinical nursing in accordance with SHS policies and procedures and within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of Georgia. Manage patient flow; perform and document patient assessments, nursing interventions, education and follow-up treatment and services. Support work of other clinic team members; act as a patient advocate, providing needed information.
  • Identify patients' learning needs, providing education that meets the physical, psychological, social and cultural needs of the patient. Provide individualized teaching including ongoing evaluation of patient understanding and compliance. Make appropriate modifications in instructional techniques for age-related and individual learning needs. Assist with development of new interventions, tools and methods of teaching. Collaborate with other SHS team members in addressing educational needs of patients.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills and support the SHS mission, vision and values. Demonstrate and ongoing commitment to professional development.
  • Maintain current license and participate in clinical and related continuing professional education. Participate in research and performance improvement projects that enhance practice and improve patient care. Assist with development of new procedures and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 
Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree of Science in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Work Experience: One year of applicable clinical nursing experience
  • Certifications: BCLS certification
  • Skills: Position requires outstanding customer service skills, ability to maintain customer-focus in all contacts; effective interpersonal skills, punctuality, dependability and reliability. Additional skills required: ability to follow doctors', nurse practitioners' and physician assistant's orders, carry out instructions and responsibilities thoroughly and completely, and ability to work independently without close supervision. Position requires knowledge of laws such as Right to Know, HIPAA, and infection control policies.
